Mrs. Zelma Lee Peterson Solomon, 75

Mrs. Zelma Lee Peterson Solomon entered into eternal rest Friday, March 5,2010 in a local hospital. She was a native of Jennings, La. and had lived in Bakersfield and Sacramento, CA. After retirement, she returned to Lake Charles, LA. to be with family. She was a graduate of Jennings High School and Southern University, where she recieved a B.A. and Master's Degree in Education. She taught school in Jennings, LA., Bakersfield and Sacramento, CA. She was employed by the State of California, Department of Education, Gender Equity/Homeless Education @ Capital Mall as a manager until her retirement. She was a member of Greater St. Mary Baptist Church where she was employed as an Administrative Assistant until her health failed. She leaves to cherish her memories, a devoted niece Darcel (Rev. John,Jr.) Dartez, Lake Charles, LA., three sisters Linda Peterson Woods, DeRidder, LA., Cynthia Peterson (James) Vincent and Frances Peterson Alexander, both of Raliegh, N.C., four brothers Lloyd (Annie) Peterson,SR., Colorado Springs, CO., Grandville K. Peterson(Brenda), Glendale, MD., Kirby K. (Soaries) Peterson, Muskegon, MI, Marcus O. (Susan) Peterson, Jennings, LA.

Funeral services will be at 7 P.M. Sunday, March 14, in Greater St. Mary Baptist Church, Rev. Samuel C. Tolbert Jr., Pastor will officiate. Visitation will be from 12 Noon to 3 P.M. at Semien-Lewis Mortuary in Jennings, LA. and continue at Greater St. Mary Baptist Church, Lake Charles, LA. from 5 p.m. to 7 P.M. Dismissal will be at 10 A.M. Monday, March 15, at the church. Burial will be in Combre Cemetery under direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, La.
