On August 18, 1930, in Lacassine, Louisiana, Phillip and Octavia Dugar were blessed with a daughter who they named Adeline Dugar. She gained her heavenly wings on April 11, 2024. She was affectionally known as "Sister". She grew up accepting Christ at an early age, and was baptized by Rev Jackson, and became a member of Lambert Chapel CME. Adeline was the Mother Emeritus of the Church. She functioned as a Stewardess Sister, Usher and often cooked or baked for various church functions. In 2019 "The Lifetime of Service Award" was presented to her by Lambert Chapel. She began her formal education in the class room at the Lambert Chapel CME. From her first marriage she had four children; Gloria, Rodney, Rogers and Jockquernetta. Adeline eventually married Houston Savoy(deceased).
She was preceded in death by her parents, fPhillip & Octavia Dugar; four brothers, Ivory, Isaac, Oliver and Wilbert.
She is survived by her four children, Rodney (Sandra) Prudhomme of Beaumont, Texas, Gloria Prudhomme of Lacassine, Louisiana, Rogers (Sue) Prudhomme of Welsh, Louisiana, and Jockquernetta Jackson of Fort Worth, Texas; one sister, Geneva (Clarence) Prudhomme of Welsh, Louisiana; 23 grandchildren and a host of great and great-great grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and one godchild, Felicia Jones.
Not wanting to be a burden to her children, Adeline pre-arranged her own funeral services with Semien-Lewis Mortuary in Jennings. She wished to be cremated and have her Urn placed next to her parents grave sites.
Visiting for family and friends is from 9am to 11am Saturday, April 20, 2024, in the Church Chapel at Semien-Lewis Mortuary in Jennings, LA. Celebration of Life Services will be held in the chapel at 11am with Reverend Clarence Lewis officiating.
