Alvin "Longhead" Drake, age 83, was a native and a resident of Welsh, LA. He departed this life on Friday, January 11, 2013 at his residence. Alvin was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church in Welsh, La. He was a veteran of the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. He was a member of Local #406. He retired after many years working on the pipeline with Anchor Waste. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Alvin is survived by his loving wife, Mariah Drake; one daughter, Teresa (Milton) Batiste of Lake Charles; two sons, Alvin C. (Geraldine) Drake of Welsh; and Ray A. Drake of Lake Charles; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. A visitation will be held on January 18th from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the Church Chapel of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, LA. Funeral services will be on Saturday January 19th at 11:00 AM at the St Joseph Catholic Church located in Welsh, LA. Burial will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Welsh, LA under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary.
