Anthony "Tony" Morris Simeon

Anthony “Tony” Simeon transitioned on June 11th, surrounded by close family and friends at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, following a long battle with illness.  Tony was the fourth child of Willie and Eula Mae Lee Simeon. He was born on May 6th, 1955.

His early life began in Crowley, Louisiana, where he started his schooling in the Crowley School System, but later moved to Jennings, where he completed his high school education in 1973.

He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on July 20th, 1973, and served until July 19th, 1976. He attended McNeese State University for one semester before reenlisting in the United States Marine Corps on December 28th, 1976, and served until December 18th, 1978, receiving an Honorable Discharge. He then served in the Reserves until December 19th, 1979. His commendations included the Rifle Expert Badge, National Defense Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He attended SOWELA Technical College, where he studied Commercial Electricity and earned his certification as a Commercial Electrician.

In May 1977, he married the love of his life, Anita Charles. He was the father of three sons: Kristopher James Handy of Slidell, LA, Charles Anthony Simeon of Searcy, AR, and Torrey Keith Simeon of Lake Charles, LA; and the grandfather of three grandchildren, Elijah Etienne, Chasity Simeon, and Jameson Simeon. He was also a father figure to many of his nieces and nephews.

He was employed with the South-Central Bell Telephone Company from June 1979 to July 1999. He was also employed by Wireless One, Communi Com, and the Lake Charles Housing Authority, where he worked his way up to the position of supervisor in just a few months. He was known as a jack of all trades. His skill sets included plumbing, HVAC, masonry, carpentry, and mechanical work. He performed countless home repairs and improvements, as well as electrical work, for many families and individuals.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Jerusalem Baptist Church in Crowley, LA. When he and his wife moved back from California to Louisiana, his wife became a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he later also became a member.

He will be forever loved and cherished by his family: his wife of 49 years, Anita Simeon; his three sons, Kristopher, Charles, and Torrey; his three grandchildren, Elijah, Chasity, and Jameson; his two brothers, Willie (Marilyn) Simeon of Copperas Cove, TX, and Nicholas (Gretchen) Simeon of Georgetown, TX; his three sisters, Linda Travis of Lake Charles, LA, Connie Simeon, and Lori Simeon both of Jennings, LA; two sister-in-laws, Lisa Charles of Jennings, Louisiana and Jackie Simeon of Lafayette, Louisiana; one brother-in-law, John (Chandra) Charles Sr. of Killeen, TX; his “Deuce,” Gwendolyn and husband Donald Cormier; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Eula Mae Simeon; his brother, Eric Simeon; his father-in-law, Leonard Charles; his mother-in-law, Ira Bell Jones Charles; and his two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Charles Sr. and Arnold Charles Sr.

Tony’s life and impact on those who knew him will forever be remembered. He was a very selfless and loving man, always giving his time, talents, and ears to those he cherished. His legacy will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 2400 Combre Street in Lake Charles, LA.  Visitation with family and friends will be held in the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of his celebration service.  Interment will follow in Combre Memorial Park with Military Funeral Honors accorded by the United States Marine Corps under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, LA.
