Arkia Evette Hemphill, 61 departed this life on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, in Lake Charles, LA. She was a native Welsh, LA and resident of Lake Charles, LA.  Arkia was born on June 9, 1962 to the late Wilma and Solomon Miller.  She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age.

Arkia leaves to cherish her life and legacy, one daughter, Ariel Hemphill (Steven) of Hillside, NJ; her former spouse, Dwayne Hemphill; her brothers, Shelvet-Wayne Miller, Darryl Miller, and Reverend Dwayne Miller (Sherry); her granddaughter, Andrea Morrison; her special friend, Calvin Guillory; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Arkia was preceded in death by her parents, Wilma & Solomon Miller; her sisters, Blair and Rosalyn; her brother, Jimmy-Dale.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11 am Saturday, March 2, 2024, in the Church Chapel at Semien-Lewis Mortuary, 819 N. State Street.  Visiting will family and friends will be from 9 am until the time of Celebration Services.  Burial will be in the Eastridge Cemetery in Welsh, LA under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, LA.
