Bessie Lee Curry, 88, died November 14, 2015, with her family by her side in Sugarland, Texas. Bessie was married to the love her life, the late Mack Curry Jr. on May 5, 1948. She was one of three children born on May 21, 1927, in Lake Charles, LA. to the late Robert Drake and the late Beatrice Goins-Green and the late Herman Green. Her father was a bakery owner in Dallas, Texas. Her mother was a loving housewife in Lake Charles, LA.
Bessie had two sisters the late Effie Mae Piert and the late Dorothy Lee of Richmond California. During their union Bessie and Mack Curry Jr. had six children, Alice Marie Eaglin of Missouri City, TX, Valrie Perry of Missouri City TX, Mack Curry III of Bowie, Maryland, the late Anthony Ray Curry, the late Herman Wayne Curry, Beatrice Ann Keshavari of Houston, TX and grand daughter Citserice Jones of Rosharon, TX.
Bessie resided in Lake Charles for 71 years. Bessie will forever be remembered by her children and treasured grandchildren Robert Curry of Houston, TX, Ralon Hardy of Houston, TX, Christopher Perry of Round Rock, TX, the late Ollie Eaglin Jr., Captain Damien Eaglin of Marlin, TX., Chadwick Eaglin of San Francisco, California, Derrick Curry, Myron Eaglin, Ebony Eaglin, Drayton Eaglin, Brandy Houston and Destiny Houston all of Houston, TX and Shamekia Eaglin of Baltimore, Maryland, Mack Curry IV of Norfolk Virginia and Thomas Curry of Bowie Maryland and a host of great grandchildren along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know her.
Bessie worked in the Sulphur, LA. School District for forty plus years where she retired. She was a member of the Fourteen Socialites Social Club. Bessie was a strong, God fearing lady that loved being with her family and loved her hats. She is a member of the Greater St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church under Rev. Samuel C. Tolbert Jr. and first lady Matilda Tolbert and while residing with family in Missouri City Texas; Bessie also attended Christian Bible Church under Pastor Rudolph White. Jr. and first lady Valarie White. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Greater St. Mary Missionry Baptist Church in Lake Charles, LA. Viewing 9:00 AM - 10:50 AM.
