On the morning of Thursday, October 17, 2019, God in His infinite wisdom summoned a faithful servant, Brother Carleis (Curley) Maziel from labor to reward.

Curley was born on March 4, 1933 in Lake Arthur, Louisiana. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age, and was baptized by the late Dr. G. C. Chaney. He grew up in the church and he was a proud member of the Union Baptist Church Choir. He was a faithful member of Union, he loved his Church and Pastor Gerald Perkins. He enjoyed picking on every member and shared lots of laughs.  Curley attended school in Lake Arthur, Louisiana and later enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1951.  Upon his discharge from the Army, he was employed with South Central Bell for 39 faithful years.  Curley was a joy to have around and he touched the lives of so many and would help anyone he could.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Essie Pearl McZeal; his parents, Amos and Jennie McZeal; his son Ronnie McZeal, Sr.; his sisters, Esther Jackson and Lela McZeal; his brothers, Haywood McZeal and Amos McZeal; grandson, Byron Castille.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving daughters, Angela Dale McZeal Robertson and Tammy McZeal Batiste (Don) of Baton Rouge, LA., his son's, Rodney McZeal (Jerri) of Parks, LA., Gerard McZeal (Amy) of Denver, CO., and Carleis, Jr. and Kerry McZeal of Los Angeles, CA.; his brothers, George McZeal (Sharon), Charles McZeal, his sister-in-law Wilma Jean Turner and Clayton McZeal (Cynthia), who was his partner in crime, he was with him every step of the way and loved his brother dearly; his adopted daughters he loved so much and spoke highly of them, Debra Randolph and Raynetta Freeman Ward; his dear niece, Catherine Pattum and nephew Eric McZeal who cared for him and stayed by his side every step of the way.

He loved all of his grandchildren so much; Shawn Castille, Ronnie McZeal, Jr., Brandon McZeal, Ramon Vital, Donald Robertson, Jr., Derrick Robertson, Ashley Robertson, Sonya Trent, Tori McZeal, Rodney Davis McZeal, Brandon Thomas, Alyssa Batiste, Don Batiste, Jr., Constance McZeal, and Gerard McZeal, Jr.

Lastly he leaves to cherish his memories, Union Baptist Church. In his eyes there was no other church or Pastor. Thank you all for loving our dad and putting up with him and his jokes. He loved his Church family so much.

Dad, we love you and will miss you so much. Thank you for raising us in the Church and equipping us with what we need to finish this race.
