Carlton Rufus Barker, Sr, 77, passed away on November 28, 2023, at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas.  Carlton was born on March 9, 1946 in Jennings, LA.  Carlton accepted Christ at an early age.  Carlton served his country in the United States Army from May of 1964 to May of 1970.  Carlton was married to the love of his life, Mrs. Mayola Gordon Barker until his death.  He enjoyed his military service, fishing, cooking, and singing with the Male Chorus at his Church and with the Voices of Jeff Davis.

Carlton leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of over 40 years, Mayola Gordon Barker; his children, Carletta E. Barker of Baton Rouge, LA., Carlton R. Barker Jr. (Rizzelyn Senegal) of Jennings, LA., Claudine Barker of Atlanta, GA., Crystal Barker of Jennings, LA., and Chetora Rivera (Malike E. Rivera) of Humble, TX; 24 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 11:30 am in the Church Chapel at Semien-Lewis Mortuary, 819 N. State Street in Jennings, LA.  Apostle Millicent Turner will officiate.  Visiting will be in the Chapel from 9:00 am until the time of Celebration Services.  Burial will be in the Southwest Louisiana Veteran's Cemetery in Jennings, LA with Military Honors Accorded by the United States Army Funeral Detail.
