Honoring Charles Andre Durio Charles Andre Durio was born on December 30, 1951 in Jennings, Louisiana. He passed away at his residence on July 26, 2014 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Charles was a native of Jennings, Louisiana and was raised in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. He was a loving son and brother. Education and religion was an integral part of his early life. Charles was raised in a loving home and grew up in the catholic church. Emphasis on good character traits and helping others was one of his many qualities from youth throughout adulthood. The community in his hometown came to know him as a kind and very caring individual who tried to help anyone. Charles loved to be with his friends and attend various activities. He especially loved family gatherings and barbecues. Charles graduated from Jeff Davis High School in Jennings, Louisiana and enrolled in the United States Army in 1969. During his military service as a Vietnam Era Veteran, he received various awards and commendations such as: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal-2 Stars, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. His prior civilian career areas were: painting, construction, and carpentry. Charles leaves the following relatives to remember his life: Louella White Durio (Wife); Anne Heard Durio (Sister); Clevetta Hawkins (Sister); Shawne Miller (Sister); Ray Gilbeaux, Jr. (Brother); Ronald Hawkins (Brother-in-law); Lisa Gilbeaux (Sister-in-law); Doris Durio (Sister-in-law); and a wide array of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends. Charles is preceded in death by the following: Junius Durio (Father); Louella Thibodeaux Gilbeaux (Mother); Ray Gilbeaux, Sr. (Stepfather); Richard Durio (Brother); Cedric Durio (Brother); and Marsha Gilbeaux (Sister). Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2014 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Deacon Mike Tramel will officiate. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a rosary at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Military Honors will be accorded by Jennings American Legion Post #19 and Post Commander of V.F.W District 5 at 10:30 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Cemetery, with Military Honors by the U.S. Army Squad from Fort Polk. Funeral services are under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings. The Patriot Guard Riders will provide Military Honors from 9:00 a.m. until the end of services.
