Comell Gobert

Listen to Obituary

Comell Gobert, 83, of Elton, Louisiana, was born to the late Lydia Gobert & Amos Gobert in Opelousas, LA, on July 29, 1942.  He departed his earthly life during the early morning hours of June 11, 2026, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Hospital in Lafayette, LA.

Comell was married to the late Patricia Gobert.  During their union, four daughters were born: Thalia, Nicole, Camille, and Odessa.  He had a special friend, Joann Thomas.

Comell's heart was at its fullest when he was on a deer stand hunting or just sharing his knowledge with his grandkids; they had a bond that was undeniable, whether it was taking one candy bar and cutting it into several pieces for each one to get a piece or just being the jokester he was.  His love for them was made apparent on a daily basis in their own special way.  He will be truly missed by everyone who had some kind of bond with him.

Left to mourn his passing are his four daughters, Thalia Guillory (Ronald) of Eunice, LA, Nicole Gobert of Lake Charles, LA, Camille Gobert (Dontae) of Elton, LA, and Odessa Gobert (Markus) of Mamou, LA; one sister, Ella Hampton of Detroit, MI; fifteen grandkids, twenty-one great-grandkids; one godchild, Delilah McClary of Kinder, LA.  He had an extra special relationship with Quentin Martin, Swiney Ceasar, Ashley Martin, Anthony Martin, Elliott Clark III, Durrell Clark, Randall Clark, Joyliott Clark, and Latricia Martin, which he viewed as his own children.  Many other nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.  He will always be remembered fondly.

Comell was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Gobert; his parents, Amos & Lydia Gobert; three sisters, Annie Mae Gobert, Lillie Terry, and Theresa Shaw; one brother, Danny Gobert; his mother-in-law, Odessa Martin and father-in-law, J. B. Martin.
