Denise Vitatoe Palmer, 64, a resident of Lake Charles, LA. passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Christus St. Patrick Hospital.  Denise was born on February 15, 1954 in Beaumont, Texas to her loving parents, Jessie Wallace Sheridan Vitatoe and Hillery Vitatoe.  She later moved to Lake Charles, LA in 1964 and was a 1972 graduate of Washington High School where she was a Majorette, a member of the Choir and Debate Team.  She attended McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA and Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA.  Denise worked at James River Corporation in Saint Francisville, LA. and later was self-employed as a Notary Public.  Denise was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Lake Charles, LA., pastored by Reverend Braylon L. A.  Harris.  She served a Vacation Bible School Teacher at the church.

Denise is survived by her daughter, Shayla Palmer of Lake Charles, LA; sons, Michael Anthony (Kimberly) Palmer, Jr., Elijah Henry, and Edward Henry II all of Lake Charles, LA; Friend & Companion, Edward Henry of Lake Charles, LA; grandchildren, Deizarey Ceasar, Symone Ceasar, Tatyanna Morris, Jaiyla Offord, Naiyla Offord, Christian Vallere, Edwin Henry, Eron Henry, and Daron Henry; sister, Patricia Guillory of Lake Charles, LA; brothers, Willie H. (Betty) Sheridan of Los Angeles, CA, and William Vitatoe of Lake Charles, LA.

Denise was preceded in death by her mother, Jessie Wallace Sheridan Vitatoe; father, Hillery Vitatoe; sisters, Mary Alice  LeBeaud, Velma Nora, and Jenny Green; brothers, Jessie Lee Sheridan and Melvin Vitatoe; former spouse, Michael Anthony Palmer, Sr. .

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 600 Simmons Street, Lake Charles, LA 70601 with Pastor Braylon L. A. Harris officiating.  Visitation will be in the church from 9:00 am until the time of religious services.  Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park, 2701 Opelousas Street, Lake Charles, LA. under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, LA.
