Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

Dorothy M. Reed was born on January 7, 1937 in Jennings, LA to the late Josephine Brown of Crowley, LA and Isaac Reed of Jennings, LA.  She peacefully departed this life on Friday, August 14, 2020. Sister Reed accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. Jeff Peterson and became a life-long member of the Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Jennings, LA.

Sister Reed was educated in the public-school system in Jennings beginning at James Ward Elementary and graduating from Jefferson Davis High School in 1955. Dot-tie (Ms. Dot) as she was affectionately called, worked tirelessly in the Jennings garment factory and later pursued an equally long career as a Cafeteria Technician in the School Food Services division of the Jefferson Davis Parish School Board. She always strived to exhibit a positive attitude and giving spirit and received several awards and recognition's while working at the Hathaway High School. One of her favorite achievements was the Distinguished Service Award she received after 19 years of dedicated service.

Known as a high-energy senior, Sister Reed never tired from volunteering in the community, being a self-appointed chauffer to her friends and family and tithing her time and talents at her family church.  During the many years of membership, Sister Reed held positions as Choir President, Sunday School Teacher, Mission Sister, in addition to the Deaconess Board.  There was never a duty or role the church asked that she did not agree to fulfill all in Service for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
