Homegoing Celebration Services for Edward "Bateast" Nixon, 82, will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Semien-Lewis Mortuary in the Church Chapel. Reverend Kimberly Richard will officiate. Edward was born on October 11, 1937 in Roanoke, LA to Nathan and Edna Nixon and was a resident of Jennings. Edward entered into eternal rest at his residence on Sunday, December 29, 2019. He was a retired laborer with the Railroad and later worked at Wal Mart. Edward served in the United States Navy and received an honorable discharge.

Edward is survived by his daughters, Barbara Gayle (Ronald) Tusey of Houston, TX., Lucretia Achane of Jennings, LA., Renita Duplechan of Memphis, TN., and Shimirra Boudreaux of Jennings, LA; three sons, Devon Boudreaux, Lewis Boudreaux, and Donald (Shanella) Boudreaux; one brother, Joe (Laura) Nixon of Jennings; sisters, Willie Belle George of Lake Charles, LA., Odile (Otis) Williams of Abbeville, LA., Cecelia Byers, Mathilda Byers, and Beatrice (Alfred) Zachary all of Jennings, LA; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a long-time special friend, Corlita Savoy of Jennings, LA.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents Nathan and Edna Nixon; one son, Vernon Boudreaux; one grandson, Duane Drake; five brothers, Abel Nixon, Melvin Nixon, Lee Allison Bias, and Frank Lehman; three sisters, Reba Francis, Betty Sue White, and Rose Senegal.
