Mr. Elijah Sanders, 88, of Jennings, LA entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at his residence in Jennings, LA, while surrounded by his loving family.  Mr. Sanders was born on October 27, 1935, in Thornwell, LA, to the late Alfred Sanders and Gladys Lavalier.  Mr. Sanders was well known for his mechanic work and was considered to be a Master Mechanic.  He loved fishing, hunting with his dogs, working in his garden, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Mr. Sanders leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Deborah Annette Smiley-Sanders of Jennings, LA; his children, Michelle Sanders (Reggie), Nordell Reed, Lisa Charles (Kenneth), Deidre Sanders, Ja'Lisa Sanders; his step-sons, Derrick Lavoy, Terry Simon (Wanda), and Kirt Simon (LouWanda); his sisters, Shirley Williams and Shelia Chenault; his grandchildren, Daivanie Lyons, Amiracle McZeal, Klyde Massey and Denver Williams; his great-grandchild, Dallas Lyons; a host of other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends.

Mr. Sanders was preceded in death by his daughter, Jessica Mitchell; his son, James B. Sanders; his first wife, Lillie B. Sanders; his parents, Gladys Lavalier-Chenault and Alfred Sanders.

Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 2:00 pm in the Church Chapel at Semien-Lewis Mortuary in Jennings, LA.  Minister Betty Etienne will officiate.  Visiting with family and friends will held in the Church Chapel from 1:00 pm until the time of Celebration Services.
