Ms. Ella Mae Cormier , 89, was born on August 26, 1931, in Elton, Louisiana. She accepted Christ at an early age and remained an active member of Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Jennings, Louisiana. Ms. Ella was a loving, compassionate mother, grand-mother, sister, aunt, and neighbor. She was an upstanding citizen of Jennings, Louisiana for over 60 years. Ms. Ella was a great historian, and conversationalist. She enjoyed entertaining old friends, welcoming new faces, and discussing the latest news briefings. Ms. Ella was an excellent homemaker and cook, who exuded kindness and generosity to all who met her. She had an influential spirit and a way with words. Ms. Ella had a great impact on many lives. She was abundantly loved and will remain honored.
She leaves to cherish her memories daughters, Grady F. Duncan, Linda M. Hicks, Nettie B. Carrington, Susan Donnell, and Arttica Joseph-Jbara of Houston, Texas; Son-in-law, Robert Hicks of Houston, TX; Sister, Annie Mae Levi of Roanoke, LA; stepchildren, Eugene Cormier and Magaline Soul; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ms. Ella was preceded in death by her husband, McKinley Cormier; sisters, Nettie Mae Jones and Irene Perkins; daughter, Richernetta "Richie" Cormier; stepdaughter, Sylvia Cormier.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 26, 2020, in the Church Chapel at Semien-Lewis Mortuary, 819 N. State Street in Jennings, LA 70546. Reverend Carl M. Fontenot Sr will Officiate. Visitation will be in the Chapel from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. A private burial will be in Peterson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, LA.
In compliance with Covid-19 guidelines, Face Coverings and Observance of Social Distancing is required during Visitation and Celebration of Life Services.
