LAKE CHARLES
Deacon Ellvin "Mickey" Louis Love, 72, made his transition from earth to glory to be with his Lord and Savior on February 19, 2021, at his daughter's home surrounded by his loving family. Mickey was born in Florence Alabama on January 17, 1949, to Wyle and Mable Macklin Love. After graduating in 1969 from West End High School, Mickey moved to Memphis, TN, and later moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was employed with Allied Waste Company as a Truck Driver for 28-years before retiring. Mickey was a faithful member of Greater Freeman COGIC in Lake Charles, LA, pastored by Pastor Darnold Catlon, where he served as a Deacon.
Mickey was affectionately referred to as the Barbeque Man; he was an awesome cook and loved cooking crawfish and much, much, more. He also loved working in the yard and loved planting roses.
Mickey leaves to cherish his fond memories, his wife of 23 years, Linda F. Love of Lake Charles, LA; his children, Marissa Walker Love, Darion Deshawn Love, both of Lake Charles, LA., Joseph Boddie (Carmen) of Richmond, IL., Shawn Bently O'key, Sr. (Bethany) of Houston, TX., Byron Love (Devinda), Tiffany Love, Andrea Love, both of Muscle Shoals, AL., and Yvette Thompson (Myron) of Florence, AL; his brothers, Christopher Love (Wanda) of Houston, TX., Willie Joe Love (Jackie) of Lufkin, TX., Michael Love (Debra), Norman Carter (Cathy) both of Lake Charles, LA; his sisters, Cynthia Carter of Lafayette, LA., Barbara Jean Love Anderson of Muscle Shoals, AL., and Landra Myres of Boca, FL; his grandchildren, Makayla Walker, Maliyah Walker, Shawn O'key, Jr., Haliey O'key, Syndi O'key, Mason O'key, all of Lake Charles, Gregory Cole, and LeMaple Cole; his great-grandchild, Karsyn Cole; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley & Mable Love; Raymond Love, Geraldine, Carrie King, and Juanita.
A public viewing will be held at 9:00 am Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Greater Freeman COGIC, 2627 Hodges Street, Lake Charles, LA. Religious Services for the public will be held at 10:00 am with Pastor Darnold Catlon officiating. Due to COVID restrictions, a Private Funeral for the family will be held at 11:30 am in the church with Pastor Darnold Catlon officiating. Burial will be in Hayes Cemetery in Hayes, LA under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings.
