Ernest James Garrick, 55, a resident of Iowa, Louisiana entered into eternal rest unexpectantly at a Lake Charles hospital on Sunday, June 9, 2024.  Ernest was educated in the Calcasieu Parish School System and was a 1988 graduate of Lake Charles Boston High School in Lake Charles, LA.  Ernest accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was a devoted member of New Light Baptist Church in Lake Charles, LA., pastored by Senior Pastor Elder Dr. Troy Thibodeaux and Emeritus Dr. Isaiah Thibodeaux Jr.  Ernest was on path to becoming an Ordained Deacon under the leadership of Senior Pastor Elder Dr. Troy Thibodeaux.  Prior to Ernest becoming ill and having to retire, he was a Commercial Truck Driver which afforded his the opportunity to travel all over the United States.  Ernest also was an entrepreneur and worked as a Landscape Architect.  In his free time, he considered himself to be a Pit Master, barbequing for family functions and also referred to himself as the "Best Cook" in the family.  Ernest loved cutting grass and doing gardening around the house.  Ernest was married to the love of his life, Shirley Yvonne Celestine-Garrick.

Ernest was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Celestine; his uncle, Darol Page; his maternal grandparents, Constance Nero Garrick and Joseph Garrick; his paternal grandparents, Emma Page and Ernest James Page, Sr.

Ernest leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Shirley Yvonne Garrick of Iowa, LA; his children, Domonick Garrick (Autumn) of Lake Charles, LA., Walter Celestine (Gaby) of Lufkin, TX., Javonte Sims of Wilson, LA., Deanna Celestine of Radcliff, KY., Alicie Garrick of Claremore, OK; his parents, Marie and Ernest James Page Jr; his sister, Constance T. Page; his aunts, Sheila Page of Houston, TX., Maggie Berry of Lake Charles, LA; Linda Page of Austin, TX., Lou Williams of Fairbank, AK., and Carol Collier (Skip) of Cams, WA; his uncle, Clarence Page of Lake Charles, LA; his grandkids, Justice Garrick of Claremore, OK., Miles Celestine of Lufkin, TX, and Raven Garrick of Lake Charles, LA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:30 am Saturday, June 22, 2024, at New Light Baptist Church, 2514 Lake St, Lake Charles, LA 70601.  Visitation will be held in the church from 10:00 am until the time of celebration services.  Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery in Westlake, LA under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, LA.
