Frederick James Matthews, Jr., 67, of Jennings, LA passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Ochsner Lafayette General Hospital.  Frederick was born on October 29, 1957, in Lafayette, LA to Fredrick James Matthews, Sr. and Loretta M. Beroid.  Frederick accepted Christ at an early age.  In 1975, at the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and received an honorable discharge.  During his time of service, he earned the rank of Private First Class, the Rifle Marksman Badge, and the Good Conduct Metal.  Fredrick later worked as a Chef in the Offshore Oil & Gas Industry before retiring.

Frederick was preceded in death by his son, Akeem Ceasar; his maternal grandparents, Clarence Beriod & Ethel Beriod; his paternal grandmother, Estelle Matthews.

Frederick leaves to cherish his memories, one daughter, Kimberly M. Arceneaux of Lake Charles, LA; his mother, Loretta M. Vital of Mermentau, LA; his sister, Ethel A. Matthews of Jennings, LA and half-sister, Charlotte L. Matthews; his grandchildren, Tylon J. White, Tyron Jamar Arceneaux, and Dominick M. Hollier Jr; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, in the Church Chapel at Semien-Lewis Mortuary, 819 N. State Street in Jennings, LA.  Visiting with family and friends will be in the Chapel from 9:00 am until the time of celebration services.  Burial will follow in the Southwest Veterans Cemetery in Jennings, LA at 12:30 pm.  Military Honors will be accorded by the U. S. Marine Corps.
