Geneva
Sinegal
Aug 11, 1950 — Mar 29, 2025
Jennings
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 KJV
Geneva Ethridge Sinegal, aged 74, passed away peacefully at Camelot Brookside with her family by her side. She was born August 11, 1950 in Kinder, LA, to the late Louis Chambers, Sr. and Ethel Mae Chambers.
Geneva was married to the late Arthur Ethridge, Sr. and then later found love with the late Dalton Sinegal, Sr. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was a faithful member of Power House Church of God in Christ, where she served as a secretary. Geneva was a faithful servant who believed that service should come from the heart, and that while doing so you should have a smile on your face. She had a smile that could light up a room, with a bounce in her step and a spirit of joy. She would give her last for her family and you knew if you were in any kind of trouble, her home was a safe place. She taught us all the importance of family, and how to love one another. While she may have lost her memory, she never lost her spark. She fought to the very end, and now she can truly rest peacefully after a life well lived.
Geneva's memories will be forever cherished by her children, Sonja McCoy-Lemelle (Bruce) of Elton, LA and Arthur Ethridge, Jr. (Willona) of Jennings, LA. Her sisters, Katherine Pattum of Jennings, LA and Mable Robinson (Calvin) of San Antonio, TX. Her brother, Louis Chambers, Jr. of Jennings, LA. Her uncles, Floyd Edwards (Bettye) of Port Arthur, TX and Jim Edwards (Iyonne) of Port Arthur, TX. Her aunts, Lucille Miles of Port Arthur, TX, Joyce Clark of Port Arthur, TX and Beatrice White of Jennings, LA. Her sister-in-law, Norma Jean Tate of Jennings, LA. Her grandchildren, Jamika McDowell, Dianicia Robinson and Imani Lee (Lester) all of Dallas, TX. Her three great-grandchildren, Azalee, Gabe and Nia all of Dallas, TX. She also leaves behind a host of siblings, nieces, nephews, godchildren, relatives and friends.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel and Louis Chambers, Sr.; her husbands, Arthur Ethridge, Sr. and Dalton Sinegal, Sr.; her grandparents, Ezekiel and Beatrice Edwards.
