Mr. Hayward "Junior" Prudhomme,
age 71 departed this life on June 13, 2017 after a battle with cancer. Hayward was a native of Welsh, LA and a resident of Brooklyn, NY. Hayward was affectionately known as Junior, was born on April 16, 1946 to the late Mr. & Mrs. Hayward Joseph and Leona Drake Prudhomme.
Hayward attended Thomas Alva Edison Quito-Ecuador High School in Brooklyn, NY. and later married Naomi A. Smith-Prudhomme. He worked as a Truck Operator with Time Movers and Storage in Brooklyn, NY until his retirement in 2005. After retiring, he was founder of Halsey, Ralph & Howard Community Garden in 2011 located in Brooklyn, NY. In the summer of 2016, Hayward was presented the Brooklyn Resident Cornerstone honor by Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams.
Hayward leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mrs. Naomi A. Smith-Prudhomme; daughters, Nadaline Harvall, Talisha Prudhomme, and Sekina Prudhomme; son, Haward M. Prudhomme; sister, Mrs. Margaret Saunders; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and a host of family and friends.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 20th, 2017 from 5pm - 7pm at Grace Funeral Chapels, 607 N. Conduit Blvd. in Brooklyn, NY. Second viewing will be held on Saturday, June 24th, 2017 from 12 noon - 2pm at Semien-Lewis Mortuary, 819 N. State Street in Jennings, LA. Burial will be in Bon Pasteur Cemetery in Welsh, LA. under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, LA.
