Mr. Horace James Berry, Sr. 75 was a native and life-long resident of Jennings, LA.  Mr. Berry passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 29, 2017.  He was educated in the Jefferson Davis Parish School System.  Horace retired as a Custodian with UPS and was a faithful member of Mount Triumph Baptist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion Post 2.  Horace served in both the United States Army and the United States Air Force where he received honorable discharges.

Horace is survived by his daughters, Doris (Grady) Woods of Lafayette, LA., Samantha Berry Nickolaison of Austin, TX., Carnell (George) Washington of Lake Charles, LA., Edith (Michael) Edwards Jr. of Jennings, LA., and Lou Ellen Berry of Jennings, LA; his sons, Horace James ( Michelle) Berry, Jr., of Katy, TX., Herman James (Mozell) Berry of Jennings, LA., Howard James (Elizabeth) Berry Sr. of Lockhart, TX., Willie Berry Sr. of Jennings, LA., and Nakia (Natal) Berry Sr. of Jennings, LA; his brother, Felton Berry Sr. of Jennings, LA; his sisters, Dorothy (Arthur) Alexander and Christi Jean (Eugene) Cormier both of Jennings, LA; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hayward & Willie Mae Berry; his wife, Nellie Lee Berry; brothers, Hayward Berry Jr., and Michael Berry Sr.; sisters Doris Jean Berry and Jovita Parker.
