Ivory Lane Simon, 61, entered into eternal rest at his residence on Sunday, December 17, 2023. Ivory was born on August 27, 1962, in Welsh, LA. to Clarence and Doris Brown Simon. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was a faithful member of Jones United Methodist Church. Ivory was educated in the Jeff Davis Parish School System and later entered the Job Corps.
Upon leaving the Job Corps, he entered the P. I. Special Forces serving his country and was honorably discharged. Upon returning home, Ivory worked in the Offshore Industry and later established Simon Security in Houston, Texas. He started a partnership named S & D Construction Company and later established S/S Home Improvement. Ivory was called to the ministry and began teaching Bible Study, Sunday School, and became a Certified Inspirational Lay Speaker. In October 8, 2023, on the Church 125th Anniversary, Ivory was assigned as Interim Minister of Jones United Methodist Church and was confirmed by District Superintendent Frances Hooten. Ivory was scheduled to be confirmed in June 2024 by the Louisiana United Methodist Conference.
Ivory leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Dinie Simon; his sons, Carl Hilstock, Damon D. Jones (Shawn) of Georgetown, TX., Dallas D. Montgomery (Kayla) of Lamarque, TX., and Dexter D. Montgomery of Lake Charles, LA; his brothers, James L. Simon (Jennifer) of Lake Charles, LA., Stephon R. Simon of Houston, TX., and Craig A. Simon (Lucille) of Lake Charles, LA; his sisters, Sonja Thorne (Calvin) of Hitchcock, TX., Brenella M. Simon of Welsh, LA., Kim D. Vital (Terry) of Huntsville, AL., and Nicole A. Simon of Lake Charles, LA.
Ivory was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Marie Vital Simon; his son, Ivory Jack Simon; his parents, Clarence R. Simon Sr. & Doris Simon; his brother, Clarence Ray Simon Jr.
Visiting with family and friends will be held from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Jones United Methodist Church, 203 N. King St, Welsh, LA 70591. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am in the church with Reverend Craig Davis providing the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Welsh, LA.
