Gunnery Sergeant James Roy Redeaux, Sr., 61, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021 in Harvey, Louisiana. James was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana to the late Ralph Joseph Redeaux, Sr. and Elizabeth Smith-Redeaux. He was educated in the Jefferson Davis Parish School System and was a 1977 graduate of Jennings High School where he was the football team's Most Valuable Player during his senior year. Shortly after graduating high school and attending college, James enlisted in the United State Marine Corps and retired after 20-years of dedicated service. James earned the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and during his service, he received the Rifle Marksman Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Pistol Sharpshooter Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, Navy Achievement Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, and the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon. Upon retiring from the military, James was employed with Bisco Industries, Inc. as an Aviation (Helicopter) Mechanic.
James leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Glenda Ann Redeaux of Jennings, LA; sons, James Roy Redeaux, Jr., Nathaniel Justin Redeaux, and Christopher Lee Redeaux; sister, Carluis Boutte of Jennings, LA; brother-in-laws, Barnaby (Lisa) Jones, Tracy Jones, and Alvin Jones all of Jennings, LA; sister-in-laws, Viney Mouton of Jennings, LA., Wilda Jones, Sarah Jones, Alfreda Brown, Mary Mouton all of Austin, TX., Linda Jones (Arthur Lee) of Crowley, LA., and Angelique Jones of Lafayette, LA; a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
James was preceded in death by his son, Jonathan Joseph Redeaux; both parents, Elizabeth and Ralph Joseph Redeaux, Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Semien-Lewis Mortuary, 819 N. State Street, Jennings, LA., with Military Funeral Honors Accorded. Reverend Clinton Perry will officiate. Visitation will be held in the Mortuary from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. Funeral
