Mr. James Gordon Rhodes, 70, entered into eternal rest on July 2, 2023, at Golden Age of Welsh Nursing Home in Welsh, LA.  James was born in New Iberia, LA on January 9, 1953, to his loving parents, Otis Joseph Rhodes and Anna Belle Gordon Rhodes.  James will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  James was a member of St Peter's Catholic Church in New Iberia, LA.  He worked as a Forklift Operator in the Food Supply Industry.  James married the love of his life, Melissa Russ Rhodes and they remained married until her passing.  In his leisure time, James was a Vallet for the Magnolia Band.

Left to cherish James' memory are his sisters, Mary Kathryn "Mickey" Ortego of Lafayette, LA and Patricia (Whitney J.) Delahoussaye of Lafayette, LA; his nieces, Tiffany of Lafayette, LA and Katie of Austin, TX; his nephews, Jakie of Houston, TX, Scott and Chris of Lafayette, LA.

James was preceded in death by his wife, Melissa; his parents Otis & Anna Belle Rhodes; is sister, Joan Perez.

James was cremated on July 3, 2023, under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, LA.
