Mr. James Lewis, Sr, passed away in Beaumont, Texas in a local hospital.  James was born Cecilia, Louisiana / St. Martin Parish on September 21, 1934, to the late Clothilde Jones and Addie Lewis.  After completing his education, James moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana, and was employed as a Longshoreman and was a member of I.L.A. Local 2047.  While in Lake Charles, he united with Sacred Heart Catholic Church where Reverend Father Richard Uche Adiwkwu is the pastor and Reverend Mr. Edward Lavine, Deacon.  James enjoyed Zydeco Music, dancing, fishing, hunting, bowling, and traveling with I.L.A. Local 2047 to baseball tournaments.

James leaves to cherish his memories, four children, Michael (Shawolyn), James Jr., Joseph, and Josie.  He shared a special bond with his nieces and nephews, whom he considered his own, Harry Lee (Sheila), Russell "Lil Jimmy," Mary Ann, Patricia Ann, Tiffany, Shawn, Keeland, Brandy; two brothers, Russel Jean-Batiste and Charles Jean-Baptiste; three sisters, Mary Claire Jones, Otelia Leblanc, and Claudell Noel; 8 grandchildren, 15 1/2 great-grandchildren; goddaughter, Wanda Celestine; life-long friends, Kernist Jacob (Brenda), Howard Dunbar (Sharon), Anthony Labato (Loretta); a host of relatives, loved ones, and friends who are missing him.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Clothilde and Addie Lewis; one brother, Frances Jones; two sisters, Florence Williams and Margaret Huddleston.

A drive through\walk through visitation will be held from 9:00 am - 11:30 am on Sunday, September 13, 2020, at Semien-Lewis Mortuary, 819 N. State Street, Jennings, LA 70546.  Graveside Services will be held at 12:15 am in Perkins Cemetery in West Lake, LA.

Due to COVID-19 Restrictions, there will be no Repass.  The family request that no flowers are sent.
