Jamesetta Lea Davis, 70, a native and resident of Jennings, LA passed away peacefully at her residence while surrounded by her loving family. Jamesetta was born on July 16, 1951 to the late James Barker and Mildred Alice Rochelle-Barker. She was a graduate of Jefferson Davis High School in the Class of 1969 and later graduated from Southern University and A & M College in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in 1973. Jamesetta worked at the TB Hospital in Menden, LA for several years as a Social Worker and later with the State of Louisiana Division of Social Services as the Director for Acadia-Vermilion Community Action Program (AVCAP). Jamesetta was married to the late Albert J. Davis, Sr. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Union Baptist Church, pastored by Reverend Gerald W. Perkins, Sr.
Jamesetta is survived by her sons, Albert J. Davis Jr. and Junious Taylor; her daughters, KaRonn M. Davis, Rochelle D. Davis, and Alzina Taylor; special daughters, Ayana E. Lee and Darla D. Alexander; a special son, Malcom Lyons; a special aunt, Katie A. Rochelle; two godsons, Desmoine Alexander and Terry Mathews, Jr; her sister, Connie Pete; a special brother, Melvin Boxie, Sr; her grandchildren, Charmille D. Davis, Albert J. Davis, III, La-Zirea Davis, Charmell Simone', Jeremiah Davis, Mir'a Gisell'e Lemelle, and Donta Allison.
Jamesetta was preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Davis, Sr; her parents, James Barker and Mildred Rochelle Barker; a sister, Elizabeth Barker Williams; two grandchildren.
Celebration of Life Services will be held Friday, July 1, 2022 at 10:00 am at Union Baptist Church, 1014 S. Main Street, Jennings, LA. Reverend Gerald W. Perkins, Sr. will officiate. Visiting will be in the church from 8:00 am until time of celebration services. Burial will follow in Benevolent Cemetery in Jennings, LA under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, LA.
