Jessie Lee Morris , 88, was born on January 19, 1936, to the late Sarah Griffin of Legionier, Louisiana.  He departed his life on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Lane Memorial Hospital in Zachary, Louisiana.

Jessie was baptized at an early age in Shreveport, Louisiana and was a faithful member of the Tree of Life Baptist Church in Lettsworth, Louisiana, pastored by Pastor Ed Henry.  Later, he joined Prevailing Word Christian Center in Innis, Louisiana, pastored by Kenneth Honora, Sr.   Presently, Jessie was a member of Magnolia Full Gospel Baptist Church in St Francisville, Louisiana, pastored by Prophet Milton Coats.
Jessie loved church and attended church every Sunday until his health failed.  Jessie was a faithful Sunday School Scholar in his early stage of life and loved listening to Old Christian Songs.  He was loved by many for his pleasant smile and warm hellos; he also loved going to the Senior Citizen Center in New Roads, LA.  Jessie was "the best" domino player in this area.  He enjoyed watching all sports on television, but baseball was his favorite and his favorite team was the Los Angeles Dodgers!

Jessie attended Booker T. Washington High School in Shreveport, Louisiana.  In his teenage years, he was taken in and cared for by his uncle John Edward and Aunt Ella Mae Griffin of Lettsworth, Louisiana.  After their passing, his sister cousin, Jacqueline and husband George cared for him until the time of his passing.

Jessie is survived by his 5 sister-cousins, as he often called them, Glenda Joy Ward of Baton Rouge, LA, Bernan Griffin and Florence Griffin, both of New Roads, LA, Wanda Jean Christophe (Rev. Datis Christophe, Sr.) of Moreauville, LA, and Jacqueline Thrasher (George Thrasher, Jr.) of Ventress, LA; one brother-cousin, John Willie Griffin of Houston, TX; many cousins, relatives and friends, along with his senior citizens center friends of New Roads, LA.

Jessie was preceded in death by his loving mother, Sarah Griffin; his special uncle and aunt, John Edward and Ella Mae Griffin; one brother-cousin, Charles Lee Griffin; other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, August 23, 2024, at Magnolia Full Gospel Baptist Church, 7910 U.S. Hwy 61 N. in St. Francisville, LA.  Prophet Milton Coats, Pastor will officiate. Visiting with family and friends will be in the church from 9:00 am until the time of Celebration Services.  Burial will follow in the Magnolia Baptist Cemetery, 12138 Powell Station Road in St. Francisville, LA. under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, LA.
