John Stafford Gordon, 89, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Jennings American Legion Hospital.  Safford was born on August 27, 1931, to the late Mary Richard Gordon and Willie Roy Gordon in Jennings, Louisiana.  He was educated in the Jefferson Davis Parish School System and later attend Technical College.  Stafford enlisted in the United States Army on July 21, 1950, and received an Honorable Discharge on July 21, 1953.  While enlisted in the U.S. Army, he received the Service Medal, Bronze Service Star, UN Service Medal, and District Unit Citation.  Stafford was a devoted member of the Frank Thibodeaux Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 520.

Stafford is survived by his wife, Stacy McClelland Gordon of Jennings, LA; daughters, Debra Gordon-Goodman, Sheila (Alton) Gordon-Mouton, and Sade (CJ) Sinegal all of Jennings; son, Marcus (Joey) Gordon, Sr; stepdaughters, Denay McClelland and Chessica Pilote; sisters, Mildred Chevallier and Lula (Harold) Holden, both of Houston, TX; Godchildren, Cynthia Harris, Jeremy Jones, Ella Marie Duhon, and Jackie Davis-Handy; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Stafford was preceded in death by his wife, Edolia Richard-Gordon; son, Carliss W. Gordon, Sr; parents, Willie & Mary Gordon; siblings, Hazel Gordon, Thelma Collins, Roy Gordon, Almedia Davis, Gustevia Breaux, Mary Ola Gordon; mother-in-law, Barbara Lewis; son-in-law, Floyd Goodman.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, January 23, 2021, at Semien-Lewis Mortuary Church Chapel, 819 N. State Street, Jennings, LA.  Visitation is from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm in Semien-Lewis Mortuary Church Chapel.  Pastor Terrance O'Neil of Houston, TX will officiate.  Burial will be in the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Jennings, LA with Military Funeral Honors.  Final arrangements entrusted to Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, LA.
