Joseph Lee LaFleur, Sr, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 24, 2020 in Lake Charles, LA. Joseph was born on November 29, 1940, in Eunice, Louisiana to the late Mary Bellard and Houston LaFleur. He was a United States Army Veteran and served during the Vietnam Conflict. While in the Army, he received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Marksman Medal. Joseph was a faithful member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Jennings, Louisiana, pastored by Father Jude Fernando. He was a dedicated member of the Legion of Mary.
Joseph leaves to cherish his memories, his daughter, Mary LaFleur (Tyrone Brown) of Jennings, LA; brothers, Paul LaFleur (Alice) of Houston, TX, Louis LaFleur of Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren, Tyrone C. Brown, Jr., Louis J. Brown, Jaquala Freeman, Zacharia Joseph Spriggs, and Faith LaFleur; Godchildren, Aliceyn Sonnier (Wilsie); a host of nieces & nephews.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Marie LaFleur; son, Joseph Lee LaFleur, Jr., grandson, Malachi Dejuan Brown; brothers, Horace LaFleur and Herbert LaFleur; parents, Houston & Mary Bellard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 920 S. Broadway Street, Jennings, LA. Father Jude Fernando will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Semien-Lewis Mortuary, 819 N. State Street, Jennings, LA. Burial will be in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, LA. Military Rites will be Accorded by a Fort Polk Squadron.
