Joseph Wayne "Big Joe" Simon was born Mach 24, 1954 to the union of the late John W. Simon, Sr. and Josephine Simon  He  was was a lifelong resident of Roanoke, LA.  He graduated from Welsh High School

Mourning his departure, while cherishing his precious memories are his mother, Josephine Simon of Roanoke, LA; his son Garrett Haley (Geraldlyn), Sr. of Baton Rouge, LA; a grandson Garrett Haley Jr; his brothers, Lionel Simon (Kathy) of New Port News, VA, John  W. Simon, Jr. (Saprina) of Roanoke, LA, Angelo Mitchell of Lake Charles, LA, and Carlos Mitchell (Cherry) of Lafayette, LA; his sisters, Sandra Prudhomme and Carol Antoine both of Roanoke, LA, Drusilla Fontenot (Hampton) and Mona Lisa Thibodeaux (Thib) of Jennings, LA, and Melinda Simon Diawara (Tamba) of Sherman Oaks, CA; a host of loving cousins and friends.

Joseph was preceded in death by his father John W. Simon, Sr. and brother Jason Simon.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 12, 2020 in Mount Triumph Baptist Church, 510 Mount Triumph Street, Roanoke, LA.  Reverend Berthel Lewis, Pastor, will officiate.  Visiting will be in the church from 12:00 pm until the time of celebration services.  Burial will be in the East Ridge Cemetery in Welsh, LA. under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, LA.
