Sister Josephine Simon, 92, passed away peacefully at her residence with her family by her side.  She was born on July 12, 1931, in Welsh, LA., to Ivy Cretchan and Elijah Jackson.  She was married to the late John W. Simon, Sr.  Sister Simon accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was a faithful member of Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Roanoke, LA., pastored by Reverend Bertel Lewis.  Sister Simon was the Mother of the Church.

Sister Simon was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Simon, Sr; her sons, Joseph Wayne Simon and Jason Max Simon; her mother, Ivy Cretchan; her father, Elijah Jackson; her sister, Rosella Andrus; her brothers, Felton Jackson and Eugene Jackson; her grandchildren, Heather Savoy, LaToyha Savoy, and Kendra Johnson.

Sister Simon is survived by her children, Lionel Simon (Kathryn) of Newport News, VA., John Simon, Jr. (Saprina) of Roanoke, LA., Sandra Simon of Welsh, LA., Carol Antoine of Roanoke, LA., Drusilla Fontenot (Hampton) of Jennings, LA., and Melinda Simon of Los Angeles, CA; a host of other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be at 11:00 am Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Mt. Triumph Baptist Church, 510 Mount Triumph St, Roanoke, LA, with Pastor Reverend Berthel Lewis officiating.  Visiting will be in the church from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.  Burial will be in Eastridge Cemetery under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, LA.
