Jovetta Marie Parker, age 50, was a life-long resident of Jennings, LA. Jovetta went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 25, 2014. She was born to the late Willie Mae Parker-Berry and Joseph Jones. Jovetta was a member of our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, pastored by Father Celsius Offor. She enjoyed visiting other ministries. She was a graduate of Louisiana Vo-Tech Training School in 1982 with her GED. She previously worked as a cook at Stark's and Sonic of Jennings, LA until she became ill and classified disabled. Later she became a Certified Independent In-home Childcare Provider and provided meals through the Feed the Children Program in Jennings, LA. Jovetta was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all. Jovetta leaves to cherish one daughter, Vetra LaChae (Curmit) Simon of Lake Charles, LA; her father, Joseph Jones of Lake Arthur, LA; 3 brothers, Horace Berry Sr., and Felton Berry Sr. both of Jennings, LA, and Albert Childress of Lake Charles, LA; 3 sisters, Chrissy (Eugene) Cormier of Jennings, LA, Dorothy (Arthur) Alexander, Sr. of Port Royal, SC, and Josephine Robinson of Fontana, CA ; 2 grandchildren, Branaj Mazeil and Ja'den Simon, both of Lake Charles, LA; one Godchild, Jacqueline Marie Berry of Jennings, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Willie Mae Berry; 2 brothers, Hayward Berry Jr. and Michael Berry Sr.; one sister, Doris Berry; and grandmother, Alexandra Ceasar. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Love Of Christ Ministries, located at 615 West Division St Jennings, LA. with Reverend Roy Harmon, Pastor will officiate. Viewing will be in the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral. Burial will be in the Peterson Cemetery under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, LA. Repast will be at Love of Christ Ministries in Jennings, LA.
