Mrs. Joyce Mathieu, 79 Joyce Mathieu was a resident of Jennings, LA., passed away at her residence on August 18, 2014. She was born on April 2, 1935 in Elton, LA. Joyce was a devoted member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church pastor by Father Celsius Offor. She served with the Grandparent Program of Head Start and was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver. Joyce was a three time recipient of the Grandparent of the Year Award. Survivors include four daughters, Cynthia Brownlee of Spring Valley, CA., Annette (Simon) Lewis of Rosemond, CA., Sandy Mathieu and Mary K. Drake, both of Jennings, LA; two sons, Theodore Paul Mathieu Jr., and Adam Mathieu, both of Jennings, LA; her mother, Mrs. Nolia Matthews of Jennings, LA; sister, Julia Fontenot of Beaumont, TX; grandchildren, Bryon Sam of Baton Rouge, LA; Joshua and Jeremy Brownlee, both of Springville, CA; Christena Lewis of Los Angeles, CA; Christopher and Simon Lewis Jr., both of Rosemond, CA; Justice Mathieu of Jennings, LA; three great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Celsius Offor officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am in the church. Burial will be in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Cemetery under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, LA.
