Mrs. Lee Ester Mitchell, 81 Mrs. Lee Ester Mitchell passed away on October 20, 2011 at the Jennings American Legion Hospital. She was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess and was a member of the senior choir, a bible teacher, member of the Mission and Trustee Board. She served on the Martin Luther King Board and was a member of the Mayor's Commission for We Love Jennings, Jeff Davis Commissioner for Elections, Red Circle Girls. She was a member of the Benevolent Board, and served as a Vice-President of Mission for the Southwest Missionary Baptist Association. Mrs. Mitchell was married to the late Percy Mitchell, Jr. She was a former employee of 7-up Bottling Co. of Jennings, a former employee of T.B. Hospital in Beaumont, Texas as a Dietician, and employed by the Jefferson Davis Council on Aging. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Saturday, October 29, 2011 at St. Paul Baptist Church with Reverend Pernell Trent, Pastor officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral. She is survived by her sister Mrs. Gloria Wilmore (Earl) Byrd, Beaumont, TX; 1 son, Marcell J. (Phyllis) Gailes of Zachary, LA; 1 daughter, Athenia Tippy (Ronald) Phillips, Berk, VA; 1 Godchild/Niece Geradine G. Burris; a special niece and caregiver Mrs. Denita (Gage) Kelly, Port Arthur, Texas; 4 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
