I have fought a good fight. I have finished my race. I have kept the faith. II Timothy 4:7 Mrs. Lena (Bernice) Broussard 90 passed away at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday August 18, 2010. Mrs. Broussard was born one of eight children to Reverend William Booth and Olive Guidry Booth on December 2, 1919. She was married to the late Joseph (Jack) Broussard. To that union two sons were born, Joseph (Judy) and Ralph Sr. (Wanda). Bernice, as she is affectionately known was a member of St. Paul Church for 81 years. She served in several capacities as a choir member, choir president, home mission, deaconess as well as a pillar of the community. She was an excellent soloist and sang at many church functions as well as countless funerals. She continued to serve St. Paul until her health failed. She and her husband owned and operated Broussard's Confectionary (Jack's Place) for 46 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph (Jack) Broussard, grandson Christopher Garcia Broussard, five sisters Thelma Gordon, Quida Segura, Elizabeth Wilson, Myrtle Young and Dorothy Ward, two brothers Arthur William Booth and Samuel Booth. She is survived by her two sons, two grandchildren, one step-grand daughter, four great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren. Mrs. Broussard's funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday August 25, 2010 at St. Paul Baptist Church in Jennings, LA. The Rev. Pernell Trent will officiate. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery under the direction of Semien and Lewis Mortuary, LLC. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at Semien-Lewis Mortuary, 819 N. State Street, Jennings, LA.
