Mrs. Levola Ann "Put" Barker-Edwards passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at age 78, in Baton Rouge. Mrs. Edwards was a native of Mermentau and lived in Jennings most of her life. She was a teacher's aide, and a secretary, who enjoyed sewing, cooking, traveling, meeting people, shopping. She loved children and enjoyed nicknaming people. Levola is survived by five sons, Don Edwards, Ronald Barker, Gary Barker, Henry Edwards, and Rodney Edwards; one brother, Carlton Barker Sr., numerous nieces, nephews, 19 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Edwards; father, Earl Barker, Sr.; mother, Lovenia Barker; sons, Dean Edwards, Eric Edwards; sisters, Leola Norris, Leevolla Guidry; sister-in-law, Catherine Bias-Barker; granddaughter, Delariva Barker. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Self, Jr., Byron Harris, Sidney Pierfax, Michael Stewart, Tyronne Perry. Honorary pallbearers are Don L. Edwards, Ronald R. Barker, Gary L. Barker, Henry F. Edwards, Rodney S. Edwards. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Wilson-Woodale Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, LA. An additional service will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. in Jennings, LA., at the David James & Rosa W. Fondel Church Chapel of Semien-Lewis Mortuary, located at 819 N.State Street with Bishop Thelma Pearl officiating. Interment will be in Benevolent Cemetery in Jennings under the direction of Wilson-Wooddale Funeral Home of Baton Rouge and Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings.
