Linda Diana Alfred passed away peacefully in her sleep while surrounded by her family, on Saturday, December 31, 2022. She was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, church, and community. Linda was born on March 25, 1949, in Jennings, Louisiana to Ervin Jackson and Lillie B. Simon. She was educated in the Jefferson Davis Parish School System and attended Grambling State University, where she met the love of her life, Paul John Alfred. She was the supervisor for Kiddie Fun Town and later worked for Jefferson Davis Parish School System later as a paraprofessional.

Linda and Paul Alfred joined in holy matrimony on July 13, 1968, later becoming the parents to their only child Randal Keith Alfred on December 26, 1968.

Linda accepted the Lord at an early age and was baptized by the late Reverend Dr. G. C. Chaney. She was governed in faith at Union Baptist Church, pastored by Reverend Gerald W. Perkins, Sr. where she regularly attended bible study, served in the Senior Mission, and was part of the Celestial Choir.

She loved her family and friends affectionately. She was humble and kindhearted, praying constantly for loved ones.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Paul John Alfred; her parents, Ervin Jackson and Lillie B. Simon; her brothers, Gerald Simon, Kerry Simon, and James Sanders. Linda is survived by her only son, Randal Keith Alfred, her daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Alfred, and granddaughter Keimyra Lynn Alfred; four sisters, Michelle Sanders (Reginald), Nordell Reed, Lisa Charles (Kenneth), and Deidre Sanders; two brothers, Terry Simon (Wanda), Kirt Simon (Louwanda); one aunt, Yvonne Celestine (Jerry); stepfather, Elijah Sanders; two godchildren, Lahmad Adams and Krystal Henry; a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews; and close family friends.

In honor of Linda, a Celebration of her life will take place at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 6, 2023, at Union Baptist Church, 1014 S. Main Street in Jennings, Louisiana.  Reverend Gerald W. Perkins, Sr. will officiate.  Visiting will be held in the church from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  Burial will be in Peterson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, Louisiana.
