Margaret Chavis Richard, 67, a native and life-long resident of Lake Charles, LA., entered into eternal rest at her son's residence on December 3, 2018. She was born April 7, 1951 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to the late Steve & Emma LaSalle Chavis. Margaret accepted Christ at an early age at Mt Zion Baptist Church in Sulphur, Louisiana. She married Daniel Lee Richard, Sr. and to that union, one son was born, Daniel Lee Richard, Jr. Margaret retired from the Calcasieu Parish School Board after 32 years of service in the cafeteria at
Reynaud
Middle School. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Her famous "Beef Stew" will be missed by all who enjoyed it.
Margaret was a devoted mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was loved by her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Margaret leaves to cherish her precious memories, one son, Daniel Lee (Rota) Richard, Jr.; two brothers, Steve Chavis and Clifford Chavis, both of Temple, TX.; four grandchildren, Denote' Laws,
Maddyson Ceasar, and Ian Richard all of Lake Charles, LA., and
Keturah Williams of Houston, TX.; Her special friend that helped to take care of her to her final breath, Alora Guillory of Lake Charles, LA.; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, relatives and friends.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Emma Chavis; four brothers, Steve, Rodney, Calvin and Howard Cavis; two sisters, Joyce Chavis Frink, and Vergie Chavis Willis.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 in First New Life Missionary Baptist Church, 311 S 1st Ave, Lake Charles, LA. Reverend Dwight E. Barker, Sr. will officiate.
