Margarite Ann Pitre-Riggs, 85, affectionately known as "Maggie" passed away peacefully at her residence with her family by her side.  Maggie was born July 3, 1937, in Iota, Louisiana to the late Lee Pitre, Sr. and Charlotte Anderpart-Pitre.  Maggie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was a devoted member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, pastored by Reverend Jude Fernando, T.O.R.  Maggie served as a Eucharist Minister and was a member of the Ladies Sodality and Legion of Mary Rosary Prayer Group.  She was a was a charter member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Ladies Auxiliary of Knights of St. Peter Claver Court #132 and active for 65 years and served in the capacity of Inner/Outer Guard.  She was a charter member of Chapeau Rouge Red Hat Society.  Maggie was a 1969 graduate of Jeff Davis High School. She was employed by Our Lady Help Christian Catholic Church as a Cook & Housekeeper in the 70's and moved to LaMarque Texas in 1987 and was employed by LaMarque High School as a Cook from 1990 – 2000. She moved back to Jennings in 2001 and worked at Roanoke High School as a Cook and later retired to enjoy life. Maggie was active in the Jennings Community, serving as an active member of the Council on Aging and the Jeff Davis Sheriff Ivy Woods Affairs Program.  Maggie was married to the late Luke Riggs, Jr. and to their union, five children were born.

Maggie leaves to cherish her memories, two children, Gary (Roxanne) Riggs, Sr. and Monica Simon; one brother, Lee Pitre, Jr; three sisters, LeAnna Dartez, Barbara Pete Sinegal, and Doris Blaine; 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Maggie was preceded in death by her parents Lee Pitre, Sr. and Charlotte Anderpart Pitre; two daughters, Veronica Willridge and Sandra Davis; one son, Kenneth Ray Riggs; one grandson, Edward Sanders; one great - grandson, Eric James, Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am Friday, May 5, 2023, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 920 South Broadway Street in Jennings, LA with Reverend Jude Fernando, TOR officiating.  Visiting with family and friends will be from 8:00am until 10:30am in the Church Chapel at Semien-Lewis Mortuary, 819 N. State St. in Jennings, LA.  A Rosary will be recited in the Chapel at 10:00am.  Burial will be in the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Cemetery in Jennings, LA under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, LA.
