Marion Fondel Sr., 79 Marion Fondel Sr. was the third child born to the union of the Late, Rosa and David James Fondel Sr., in Lake Charles, LA., on September 26, 1931. He attended First Ward School, Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated from W.O. Boston High School, where he was a member of the Basketball and Football Teams, where he loved sports and excelled. He was baptized at an early age by the Late Rev. Ezra King, at New Emanuel Baptist Church. He was a member of Travelers Rest Baptist Church. He married his high school sweetheart, the late Ruth Mae Jones. He enlisted in the U.S Air Force, while in the Air Force he received his degree from California State University, Sacramento, CA. He received an Honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force. He was employed as an Insurance Agent, was part owner of Fondel Memorial Chapel, and was employed by Consolidated Aluminum Co. as a KILN control room operator, a member of ABCU Union Local 3211A. He retired from Consolidated Aluminum December 1, 1997 after twenty-seven years of service. Marion and his late wife Ruth are the parents of eleven children and adopted four of their grandchildren and reared four other grandchildren. Marion was proceeded in death by his devoted wife of fifty-six years, Ruth Mae Jones Fondel, parents, Rosa and David James Fondel Sr., brothers, John David, James Clinton, and David James Fondel Jr. He leaves to cherish his memories; five daughters, Georgia R Cipriani of Houston, Troy (Willie) Thomas of Austin, Michelle Guyton, Linda Brooks and Darla Fondel Clark, all of Lake Charles; six sons Marion Fondel, Jr., of Harlem, NY, Michael (Shelia) Fondel of Longview, Texas, Gary (Pat) Fondel of Austin, Donald (Brenda) Fondel, Kevin (Tonia) Fondel and Jerald (Dana) Fondel, all of Lake Charles, four adopted Grandchildren, Brittiny Nicole, Brian, Dorian, and Shawntel Brooks all of Lake Charles; and four grandchildren he reared; Lisa West of Houston, Darren West, Gregory Brooks, Jr., Tony Guyton and Jalen Broussard, all of Lake Charles; a host of Grand-children and Great Grand-children, two sisters Frances Fondel Gordon and Mary Ellen (Antoine) Semien, both of Lake Charles and three brothers, Rev. Franklin (Stella) Fondel, Sr., Raymond (Esther) Fondel, Sr., and George Fondel, Sr. all of Lake Charles, Funeral service will be 10:00 am Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Mount Calvary Baptist Church of Lake Charles, LA with Reverend Elmo Garner, Pastor, officiating under the direction of Fondel Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be from 8:00 am until time of Funeral at the Church. Sweet be thy rest, and Peaceful thy sleeping, God's way is best where ills ever molest thee, Sweet be thy rest.
