Ms. Maxine (Candy, Nanny) Smith , 75 passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on Monday, January 16, 2917 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.  She was  native of Mississippi and was a resident of Lake Charles, LA. for most of her life.  Maxine was a licensed Beautician and a member of Greater St. Mary Baptist Church pastored by Reverend Samuel C. Tolbert, Jr.

Maxine is survived by two brothers, Floyd Smith of Biloxi, MS., and Henry Lutcher; four sisters, Patricia Jones, Mary Bates, Wanda Bartie, and Cheryl Willis, all of Lake Charles, LA; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Louella Smith; six brothers, George, Rudolph, Henry, Nathaniel, Willie, and Frank Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 27, 2017 at Greater St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1801 2nd Avenue, Lake Charles, LA 70601 with Reverend Samuel C. Tolbert, Jr. officiating.  Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 am until the time of funeral.  Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, LA.
