LAKE CHARLES
Mr. Melvin Iles, Sr. 95, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Christus St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles, LA. Melvin was born on May 11, 1926 in Iowa, Louisiana to Virginia Alfred Iles and Henry Iles, Sr. Melvin served in the US Army during the Korean War. He retired from Trinity Baptist Church after 52 plus years and Warren United Methodist Church after 25 plus years of dedication and hard work.
Melvin Iles was preceded in death by his one and only true love, Agnes Mae Reney Iles; his mother, Virginia Alfred Iles and father, Henry Iles, Sr; two children, Lloyd Allen and Linda Faye Reney. One grand-daughter, Emma Jean Reney; four sisters, Virginia Randolph, Justine Sowells, Ophelia Iles, and Lou Pearl Iles; Five brothers, Foster Thomas, Henry Jr., Mack Earl, Robert Benjamin, and Willie Keith.
Melvin Iles leaves to cherish his memories, three daughters, Virginia, Laura Agnes, Tracy Elizabeth Iles (Kent Landry) of Lake Charles, LA; two sons, Melvin Jr. of Lake Charles and Wilbert Wayne Iles (Chantal Landry-Iles) of Westlake, LA; his grandchildren, Shawn, Christopher, Clinton, Donte', Devonte', Xavier Iles, Ronald Keith, Lloyd Allen, and Darrell Keith Reney of Lake Charles, LA; two granddaughters, Yolanda Reney of Lake Charles, LA and Alexandria Iles of Westlake, LA; his goddaughter, Donnie Page of Lake Charles, LA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Melvin loved playing the organ and piano. He enjoyed Cooking and Barbequing. Our Father was a praying man who taught us how to pray and believe that God can do anything but fail.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Warren United Methodist Church, 1800 Orchid Street, Lake Charles, LA. Reverend Davis W Clark, Pastor, will officiate. Visiting with family and friends will be in the church from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, LA.
