Nelson Wyatt Griffin, age 69, was a native of Gloucester, VA. and a long-time resident of Lake Charles, LA., died at his residence. Nelson was called from his earthly home to his heavenly reward on February 6, 2015 with his loving daughter Ashley at his bedside. Nelson was born on August 5, 1945 in Gloucester, VA. to his loving parents, Collins W. & Mary Carter Griffin. Nelson enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for a number of years and received an honorable discharge. Nelson is survived by his daughter, Ashley Brown Buckley; one adopted son, Franklin D. Lewis Sr.; two brothers, Malcolm A. and Collins W. Griffin Jr.; one sister, Belinda Griffin Cornelius; two grandsons, Sincere & Xavier Buckley. Nelson will be greatly missed by all who came to know him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Jane Griffin; both parents, Collins W. & Mary E. Griffin. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the Blake Street Church of Christ, located at 103 N. Blake Street Street in Lake Charles, LA. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2015 from 9:00 AM until time of services. Pastor Tommy Jordan will officiate.
