Raymond M. Fondel Sr., 72 Funeral services for Mr. Raymond M. Fondel Sr. will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 300 North Blake Street in Lake Charles, LA Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of funeral services. A wake will be held from 3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Fondel Memorial Church Chapel, 832 North Lyons Street, in Lake Charles, LA. Interment will be in the Combre Memorial Park. Raymond M. Fondel Sr., was born on August 10, 1940 in Lake Charles, LA. to the late David James Fondel Sr. and Rosa Beatrice Williams Fondel. He was baptized at an early age at New Emmanuel Baptist Church by Rev. Ezra King. Raymond was a native and lifelong resident of Lake Charles; a graduate of W. O. Boston in 1960; and Commonwealth College of Science in 1962. He was an established Funeral Director and Mortician, who later established Fondel's Ambulance Service in 1965. He was a well known businessman in the community who was respected by many and devoted to helping others. On January 20, 1965, Raymond was united into Holy Matrimony to Esther Mae McClanahan. To this union three children were born, Raymond Jr., Paul, and the late Martha Rosa Fondel Smith. Raymond is survived by his wife, Esther Mae McClanahan Fondel; three sons, Raymond M. (Juanita) Fondel Jr., of Lake Charles, Paul Leonard Fondel, of Houston, Texas and Floyd Perrodin of Lake Charles; two daughters, Stacy Stevens (Lance) Robinson and Tracy Stevens both of Lake Charles; a son-in-law, Antonio Smith of Monroe; two brothers, Rev. Franklin E. (Stella) Fondel Sr. and George C. Fondel Sr; one sister, Mary Ellen (Antoine) Semien, all of Lake Charles; and four grandchildren, Matthew Fondel, Amariah Rose Lov and Aiden and Austin Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Rosa Fondel Sr.; four brothers, John, Marion, James, and David Jr. Fondel; a sister, Frances Fondel Gordon; one son, Roy Chester McClanahan: and his loving daughter, Martha Rosa Fondel Smith.
