Deacon Raymond Louis Segura, Sr., 85, transitioned from earthly labor on Monday, March 16, 2026, in Lake Charles, LA. Deacon Segura was born on December 24, 1940, to the late Jonas Raymond Segura and Ouida Odessa Booth Segura in Jennings, LA. He received his primary and secondary education in the Jefferson Davis Parish School System and was later a proud graduate of Grambling State University. Raymond earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education and a Master of Education Degree, plus 30 hours. Raymond was a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Rho Chi Chapter, and was a member of the Grambling Alumni Association. He was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and served on the Board of Directors for the James Ward Sr. Federal Credit Union.
Raymond accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age. He was a dedicated member of Union Baptist Church, pastored by Reverend Gerald W. Perkins, Sr. Raymond served as Chairman of the Deacon Ministry and Sunday School Teacher for the Adult Men's Class at Union Baptist Church. Raymond was awarded Elementary Principal of the Year in Jefferson Davis Parish and was awarded Principal of the Year for Region 5 of Louisiana for 1995-1996.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Jonas Segura and Ouida Segura; his granddaughter, Chloe' A. Thibodeaux
Raymond is survived by his devoted wife, Geraldine Johnson Segura; his children, Raymond L. Segura, Jr. of Jennings, LA and Dawn E. Segura of San Diego, CA; his grandchildren, Zeelee Segura of Los Angeles, CA., Simone Coffman and Kingston Segura, both of Waialua, Hawaii; his siblings, Royce Segura Levy of Jennings, LA and Sandra Gaynell Segura Perry of Lake Charles, LA.
Visiting with family and friends will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Union Baptist Church, 1014 S. Main Street in Jennings, LA. Celebration of Life Services will began at 11:00 a.m. in the church with Pastor Reverend Gerald W. Perkins, Sr. officiating. Interment will be in Peterson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, LA.
