Mr. Rufus Semien, 78, of Lake Charles, LA., passed away at 11:00 p.m.Sunday, June 24, 2012 in Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. Mr. Semien was born on November 18, 1933 in Opelousas, LA. He resided in Lake Charles and retired from Alcoa, formerly Reynolds Aluminum after 30 years of service. He also worked for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office. Mr. Semien served in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. Mr. Semien was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church of Lake Charles, pastored by Reverend Monsignor Daniel A. Torres, V.G. He enjoyed traveling with his children and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Semien is survived by his daughter, Beverly Ragas of Lake Charles; four sons, Joseph Morale (Sonya) of Tyler, Texas, Clophus Semien of Lake Charles, Allen Semien (Candace) of Baton Rouge, David Semien (Sandra) of Lake Charles; four brothers, Antoine Semien Sr. (Mary Ellen) of Lake Charles, Johnny Semien of Long Beach, California, Hilton Semien and Hillary Semien, both of Kansas City, Missouri; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Davis Semien; his daughter, Sylvia Hollis; his son, Martin Semien; his parents, Francois Semien and Marie Espree Semien and two brothers, Joseph Semien and Frank Semien. Visitation will be held at Williams Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA. on Friday, June 29, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Holy Gost Catholic Church, located at 747 North Union Street in Opelousas, LA. with Reverend Jaison Mangalath, S.V.D., Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Bellvue Memorial Cemetery in Opelousas, LA.
