Walter Joseph Batiste III, 23, of Iota, was called home on May 9, 2020, surrounded by his family.  Walter was known as "Tu Tu" to his family and friends. He was born April 30, 1997, in Jennings, LA, the son of  Walter Jr "Popeye" and Karen Batiste. He graduated from Iota High School Class of 2016, where he was a member of the FFA. He graduated from ABC Training Center, earning his certificate in welding.

Walter was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed spending his days on the fishpond. Walter enjoyed hunting for ducks, rabbits, squirrels, and deer. He also enjoyed gardening, some of his favorites okra, tomatoes, cucumbers, and watermelon.

Walter is survived by his parents, Walter Jr "Popeye" and Karen of  Iota, LA; his sister Kimikko of Iowa, LA, Christi (Jason), and Kassie of Jennings, LA; Kaitlyn of Lafayette, LA.  He also leaves his nieces Iyanna and Bailee; nephews Jason and Malik; maternal grandmother, Wanda Thibodeaux of Welsh, LA.  Walter is also survived by close friend Jantz Gatte and godchild Vanessa Gatte of Eunice and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his Parental grandparents Walter Sr. and Maudry Batiste, Maternal grandfather Issac Thibodeaux, his Uncle Milton Batiste, and Aunt Marie Simon.

A private family viewing for Mr. Batiste will be held on May 14, 2020, in the Semien-Lewis Mortuary in Jennings, LA.   Interment will be in Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Cemetery in Welsh, LA. under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary.
