Walter James Manuel, 89, passed away peacefully at his residence while surrounded by his loving family.  Walter was a native of Mowata, Louisiana and a resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana.  He was born on March 10, 1929 to his loving parents, Mary Manuel and August Manuel.  Walter was married to the love of his life, Mrs. Georgiana Manuel of 63 years.  Together, Walter & Georgiana founded Anna's Pies

Walter was a faithful member of Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, pastored by Father Wayne LeBleu.  He was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Peter Claver.  Walter retired from Bell South after 32 years of dedicated service.

Walter leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife, Georgiana Lavergne-Manuel; two sons, James Kenneth Manuel and Carl Wayne Manuel, both of Lake Charles, LA.; two daughters, Tamika (Randy) Bias and Shamika (Fabain) Stevenson, both of Lake Charles, LA.; one brother, Morris Manuel of Laforte, TX.; one sister, Helen (Joel) Williams of Lake Charles, LA.; nine grandchildren, James Kenneth Manuel, Aali'Jia Bias, Aa'sialynn Fuller, Walter Rubin, Dy'len Rubin, A'Zliona Guillory, A'Randee Bias, Fabain Stevenson, Jr., all of Lake Charles, LA.; brother-in-law, Morris (Julie) Lavergne of Lawtell, LA.; sister-in-law, Betty Lavergne of Lake Charles, LA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary & August Manuel; three brothers, Alfred Manuel, Albert Manuel and Francis Manuel; three sisters, Josephine King, Bessie Medlow and Hazel Manuel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 2031 Opelousas St, Lake Charles, LA. with Father Timothy Goodley, officiating.  Visitation will be held at Steven's Funeral Home, 823 North Shattuck Street , Lake Charles, LA.  Knights of Peter Claver 4th Degree Ritual will be held at 9:00 am in the Funeral Chapel followed by a Rosary at 9:30 am.  Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery & Mausoleum, 2646 Opelousas Street, Lake Charles, LA. under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, LA.
