PFC Welton James Hawkins, Sr.

PFC Welton James Hawkins, 89 , a native and resident of Jennings, Louisiana passed away peacefully at his residence on October 8, 2018.  Welton was born on January 10, 1929 in Jennings, LA to the late Alice Netty Hawkins and Robert Hawkins.  Welton enlisted in the United States Army in February of 1946 and received an honorable discharge in February of 1949.  Upon returning to Jennings, he worked as a Laborer and a Custodian with Jefferson Davis High School and the Zigler Foundation in Jennings, LA.

Welton is survived by two daughters, Kelva Arline Leblanc and Gwenella Faye McAroy, both of Houston, TX; granddaughters, Collette, Towanna and Alisha of Texas and Angie Leblanc of Jennings, LA; grandsons, Tyrone McAroy, Jr. and Renauldo Hawkins.

Welton was preceded in death by his parents, Alice Netty & Robert Hawkins, Sr.; his wife, Alice Hawkins; son, Welton Hawkins, Jr; sisters, Ethel Richmond, Margie Duty and Hazel Randolph; brothers, Robert Hawkins; grandson, Joseph Keith Hawkins.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018 in the Rosa W. & David J. Fondel Church Chapel at Semien-Lewis Mortuary, 819 N. State Street, Jennings, LA.  Visitation will be in the Church Chapel at Semien-Lewis Mortuary from 9:00 am until the time of Funeral Services.  Military Honors will be accorded by a US Army Squadron from Fort Polk, LA.  The American Legion Frank Thibodeaux Post 520 of Jennings, LA will provide Military Rituals at 10:00 am.
