Wilma Jane
Bihm Morales
Nov 24, 1938 — Oct 19, 2025
Welsh
Wilma Jane Bihm Morales, 86, affectionately known as "Mawmaw Wilma" by her family, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Sunday, October 19, 2025, with family members by her side. Mawmaw Wilma was born in Mowata, LA on November 24, 1938, to the late Emery Joseph Bihm and Rosa Aguillard Bihm.
While living in Texas for a little over 30 years, Mawmaw Wilma met and married her beloved husband, Genaro "Papa Gene" Morales. Together they worshiped at Change Pointe Church in Conroe, TX. Feeding the homeless was a call from the Lord. They both did this with care and passion and without hesitation.
While living in Cut and Shoot, TX, Mawmaw Wilma was known for her Cajun Cooking, but no one could resist her desserts. Her cookies, lady fingers, pecan pies, apple pies, just to name a few were always welcomed at family and friends' gatherings. When not cooking or baking, Mawmaw Wilma could be found using her "worthless information," as she would say, to solve her many crossword puzzles. She was also a talented artist. Her many paintings include outdoor and swamp scenes, flowers and anything else that would capture her eye.
After the passing of Papa Gene in 2016, Mawmaw Wilma moved back to Welsh where she lived the remainder of her life.
Survivors include sons, Lynn Leger (Patty) of Montgomery, TX, Larry Leger (Bridget) of Welsh, LA, and Richard Leger (Natalie) of Jennings, LA; daughters, Lorraine Leger of Pass Christian, MS and Julie Leger of Welsh, LA; sister-in-law, Pris Bihm of Thornwell, LA; nephews, Raymond Bihm and Kevin "Boo" Bihm, both of Thornwell, LA; father of her children, Daniel Leger.
Mawmaw Wilma loved her 15 grandchildren, adored her 21 great-grandchildren, plus another blessing on the way and was proud to say she was a great-great Mawmaw to one grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 28-years, Genaro Sanchez Morales; parents, Emery and Rosa Bihm; brother, Belton Bihm; nephew, Jeff Bihm.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the following: To the staff & residents of Bayou Villa of Welsh, although it was a short stay, she loved her little apartment and always called it home. To the staff & residents of Golden Age Nursing Home, we thank you for your compassionate care, love and respect while Mawmaw Wilma was there. We really appreciate you. To the staff at Harbor Hospice of Lake Charles, you helped Mawmaw Wilma leave this earth with love, respect and dignity.
Mawmaw Wilma's wishes were to be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at First Baptist Church, 500 S Adams Street in Welsh, LA.
